How the Lord saved me from atheism

Abstract:

While studying for a BSc degree at the University of Stellenbosch, my heart was full of rebellion against God. I studied Physics with the hope of one day understanding everything about the beginning of the universe, energy, mass and light, thereby somehow proving that God does not exist.

In Applied Mathematics in a third level course on Applied Modern Algebra, we had to formulate theorems about tournaments (an application in graph theory) and prove them. One way of proving a theorem, namely by contradiction, reductio ad absurdum, made quite an impression on me.

One day when I realized that there was a limit to my intelligence, I applied this proof by contradiction in a prayer to God. He answered my prayer, proving to me that He does exist! This led to my conversion from atheism to faith in the God of the Bible.

In this talk I give details of the thinking that led up to this prayer and of God's surprising answer.

On this CD (or cassette) Jeanne le Roux sings about the wonder of the salvation that she has found in Jesus Christ. He died for our sins on the cross at Calvary, but rose from the dead and now lives to give us new life in Him. Through faith in Him, we are brought into a personal relationship with God as Father. The ten cuts on the CD (and cassette) are all composed by her and are based on scripture portions from the Bible.

These songs are a testimony to the faithfulness of God. He hears us when we cry to Him. He always answers, guiding us in His ways if we seek His will.
